Disco music, which appeared in the 1980s and combined funk, r&b, pop and other musical styles, marked the beginning of modern dance music (such as house and techno). Disco, easily recognized by the 4/4 rhythm, sophisticated bass lines, bright instruments and the frenzy of vocals and synthesizers. This is dance music that greeted the dawn of the sex revolution. From Africa to Italy, offshoots of disco music have sprung up all over the world, and every decade counts a new revival. When will it end? Is it music that is always relevant because of its upbeat mood and dreamy nostalgia? Always shiny disco dancers, their hairstyles are afro, their discos are full of lights, vinyls are spinning here, and the most iconic disco symbol - the disco globe - is always hanging above the head! Why would anyone want to miss such a hot party?
Once upon a time in Lithuania, Kernagis sang "Oh disko, oh disko, we only love disko". Teisutis Makačinas apparently decided that it's better late than never, so his album "Disco muzika" was released back in 1982, but caught the wave of popularity only 30 years later (when the album was even reissued). Meanwhile, Janina Miščiukaitė and her "Amžinas Šokis (Eternal dance)" (1980) have returned to listeners' sound libraries like a retro boomerang. Music producers, like wizards, started baking new versions of this piece, and artists adapted this song to their own sound. It seems that everyone remembered that disco music is not only a time machine, but also a great opportunity to learn dance moves from your elders and have fun.
I would like to announce the return of disco, maybe not the return, but its eternal dance. In other words, it's an eternal moonwalk dance back into our hearts. Therefore, I invite you to join the new event series SUKASI PLANETOS, in which we will not only pay tribute to the colorful sounds of disco music, but like astronauts we will float weightlessly in the space of positivity. And my special selection will be enriched by a star that is not only well known in Lithuania, but a separate planet should be named after her - Rūta Loop. A woman who has released two solo albums, does not get out of music TV projects, but can launch rockets into space with her voice. Exceptional energy and exceptional voice.
